Babil Water Sports Center
Babil Water Sports Center, established by Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, is a vibrant hub where sport meets the sea, designed to make water sports accessible to all residents of Mersin. Officially opened in April 2024 under the leadership of Mayor Vahap Seçer, the Center was created to harness Mersin’s unique coastal geography and climate to promote active lifestyles and engagement with water-based athletic pursuits.

Babil Water Sports Center combines recreation, education, and athletic development in one dynamic setting. Located in Mezitli District, the facility spans approximately 340 square meters and consists of two distinct units tailored for different water sports activities, including canoeing, rowing, sailing, and SUP (stand-up paddleboarding). The modern complex includes spacious changing rooms, showers, storage spaces for equipment, and dedicated areas for each sport branch, offering a safe, well-equipped environment for both beginners and experienced participants.

The Center welcomes visitors of all ages from young children discovering water sports for the first time to adults seeking new challenges on the sea. Courses are offered in multiple disciplines: optimist sailing for ages 7–14, laser sailing for teens, canoeing for adults, and SUP lessons all provided free of charge under the Municipality’s community-oriented approach
