Vahap Seçer

Vahap Seçer, the Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, was born on October 5, 1963, in Tarsus, Mersin. He graduated from the Faculty of Agriculture at Çukurova University. As a young entrepreneur, Seçer invested in agricultural production, industry, and trade through the business he founded in 1987, where he served as both a board member and chairman.

Additionally, he is a member of the Chambers of Industry and Commerce, representing the business community, and as an agricultural engineer, he is a member of the Professional Chamber. Seçer also took part in social projects as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Tarsus Power Union Foundation (Tarsus Güç Birliği Vakfı), which he founded to help raise modern, secular, and patriotic young people. Vahap Seçer served as a Member of Parliament for Mersin from the Republican People’s Party (CHP) during the 23rd and 24th terms, between 2007 and 2015.

During his tenure, Seçer, who was a member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Commission and the Plan and Budget Commission, carried out successful work.

Vahap Seçer, who develops projects that include solutions to the problems of the city where he was born and lives, was elected Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality in the Local Elections on March 31, 2019. He was reelected on March 31, 2024, and continues to serve in this role.

Vahap Seçer, the Mayor of Mersin Metropolitan Municipality, is married and has two children. He is also proficient in English.
