Youth
What We Do
Imagine a city where youth are not only the future, but active partners in shaping the present, where every young person is supported to learn, express themselves, and build confidence in their abilities. In this vision, Mersin places young people at the heart of urban life, investing in their development through inclusive, accessible, and empowering youth-focused initiatives.
Across the city, diverse projects create opportunities for social engagement, learning, and personal growth. Youth camps such as Tarsus Youth Camp and Narlıkuyu Youth Camp, city-wide events like the Mersin Youth Festival, and skill-oriented programmes including the Digital Youth Center (DİGEM) and MERTUSEG, which strengthens youth employability in the tourism sector, are among the initiatives that empower young people and encourage active involvement in community life.
Together with many other youth-oriented projects and activities, these initiatives promote active citizenship, lifelong learning, and equal access to opportunities, contributing directly to SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities), and SDG 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities).
